Things to see & do in and around Dundee

City of Discovery 

With its small city streets fully packed with architectural buildings of traditional and modern. Visit the V&A – one of Europe’s most beautiful design museums, or board RRS Discovery ship, the original ship actually sailed to the Antarctic.

There is so much to see and do in Dundee and the surrounding areas. While exploring some of Dundee’s hidden gems to learn more about this historic city. Sir Winston Churchill – the Prime Minister during World War II, lived in Dundee for 14 years, and  Sir Winston Churchill plaque, is located around the corner of Nethergate. And ask a local for a secret underground pub when you come to the Union Street area, and you will be so amazed when you find this pub.

Take a tour along the famous River Tay – the longest river in Scotland and the Tay Rail Bridge completed in February 1878, at the time was the longest bridge in the world.

Broughty Ferry (4 miles) is the nearest town centre with a lot of cafes, restaurants, shops, pubs, chemists, butchers, doctor surgery, stunning Broughty Ferry Castle, etc. The beautiful beach is a must-see, and you can take a Pirate tour to see Seals, Dolphins, Lighthouses, the V&A from the water and much more.

Around Dundee 

Dundee and its neighbouring area are a golfer’s paradise. Dundee is only 15 minute drive from the famous Carnoustie Championship golf course, venue for many of the Scottish and British Open Championships.

St. Andrews the home of golf Golf is a 13 mile drive from Dundee. St. Andrews Golf links is the top destination for World Class Golfers and enthusiasts, Tiger Woods is one of the great Open champions winning here back in 2005.

Closer to home, Forbes of Kingennie Resort 
(9 hole golf course with golf buggies to hire, Driving Range, Cairngorms Putting Green, Fishing, Angus Thistle Maze, Bar/Restaurant) is only 1.5 miles from our cottage and a nice walk via Wellbank. There are over 20 challenging golf courses within 20 mile raduius of the cottage.
